MISSION STATEMENT
The Office of External Affairs
exists to let the light of the Presbyterian Pan American School (P.P.A.S.)
shine so that its good works will give glory to God. As ambassadors
for Christ, we seek to establish a spirit of community by reaching out
to the world and calling forth a response through prayer, participation,
and giving. We are encouragers of active faith in mission. We
provide hospitality to strangers and endeavor to be transformative in
the renewal of minds and hearts.
PANAMERICANA
The Panamericana
is published biannually by the Presbyterian Pan American School. This
publication includes a message from the president, news around campus,
and highlights of past and upcoming events. If you have questions or
would like to receive the Panamericana, please contact Barbara
Chamness at (361) 595-7313.
CHURCH RELATIONS
The Presbyterian Pan American School seeks to promote the mission
of our school among our Presbyterian churches throughout the United
States. We ask churches to support our Scholarship Fund that benefits
deserving students from the Americas and beyond.
Partnership Opportunities for Churches
Mission opportunities
are available now for churches to be in partnership with the Presbyterian
Pan American School.
- Mission
Work Groups from congregations are invited to perform
various work projects on our campus.
- Our Grupo
Folklorico, an instrumental group of students, welcomes invitations
to participate in worship services and at other occasions in the life
of a congregation.
- Congregations are encouraged to recommend students
for admission who have a good academic background, leadership potential,
and strong Christian morals.
- Alternative gift programs are available through contributions
to our school in lieu of a birthday, Christmas, or special occasion
gift.
- We welcome invitations to speak about P.P.A.S. in worship
or at meetings of congregational groups.
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The scholarship program provides assistance to students based on need.
This year 85% of our student body receives financial assistance
to attend our school.
Gifts to the scholarship program come from
the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) through the Christmas Joy Offering,
churches, organizations, and friends of the school.
If you have any questions about the Scholarship
Fund, please contact Barbara
Chamness at (361) 595-7313.

"You shall love
the Lord your God
with all your heart,
and with all your soul,
and with all your strength,
and with all your mind;
and your neighbor
as yourself."

return used for purposes specified by the donor, and the rest of the
investment yield returned to the principal.
• Planned
Gifts
Donating a car, asset,
or real estate has specific tax advantages, which include income and
capital gains tax savings and increased income.
Note that when you give a gift of real estate property, you may claim
an income tax charitable deduction based on the fair market value
of the gift, avoid capital gains taxes, and eliminate certain costs
associated with the transfer of property.
• Wills
Charitable gifts made through your will are 100% deductible
for estate tax purposes and a charitable bequest may place your estate
in a lower estate tax bracket.
• Gifts-in-Kind
P.P.A.S. has received a variety of personal possesions, such as works
of art and equipment.
As with all financial considerations,
we encourage you to discuss potential tax advantages and other aspects
of charitable giving with your attorney, tax adviser, or financial
consultant. If you have any questions about planned giving,
please call the Office of External Affairs for more information at
